Sixty Five Years of Transforming lives
At Starehe Boys' Centre and School, we don't just educate; we build character, foster leadership, and inspire excellence. For over 65 years, we've been transforming lives, nurturing bright minds, and empowering young men to become the leaders of tomorrow.Mission of Starehe
Starehe’s mission is to provide care and education for boys in need and inspire them to transform into productive and exemplary members of society.
Our Visionary Founders
Starehe Boys' Centre
Established in 1959, Starehe started off as a rescue centre for waifs displaced by the independence war and concurrent State of Emergency. The Centre was started in a couple of tin huts donated by Kenya Shell Oil Company from a decommissioned oil exploration field station, and into these Geoffrey William Griffin – our Founder – took in 17 homeless boys, and thus Starehe was born!
